Alistair May

We are delighted to announce that, following Alistair May preaching as sole nominee this morning our congregation voted unanimously in favour of calling him as our new minister and Church Leader. Please continue to pray for Alistair, his family and our church family over the next while as we prepare for our new ministry.

Alistair was raised in the Burnside area of Glasgow before going on to study law, L.L.B. (Scots Law) as Strathclyde University and at Glasgow University he graduated B.D. (Honours 1st Class) in Systematic Theology and New Testament. He also completed a postgraduate Ph.D. in New Testament.

Before being called to Ministry, he worked as a Student Assistant with Edinburgh City Mission and as a Youth Worker with Lymm Baptist Church in Cheshire.

Alistair has been a minister at Rutherglen: Stonelaw for the past 17 years and following a Probationary Period at Kirkintilloch: St David’s Memorial and Locum position at Govanhill Trinity Parish Church. He has served on a number of committees at national level within the Church of Scotland.

Alistair is married to Elaine and they have two daughters, Rebecca and Hannah.

Alistair believes in a wholistic Gospel. We proclaim forgiveness and resurrection hope in Christ, but we also pray and work for his Kingdom to come on the earth. Preaching and action must also proclaim social and environmental just locally and globally. Recently that has been a focus on homelessness. He is also, personally, a life-long supporter of Tearfund and, in 2016, visited their development programmes in Ethiopia.

We need to invest in the community footprint, which is the mark of a parish church: i.e. ways that the congregation (and it’s buildings) serve the locality. The service must be open for all, but purposeful in its missional intention. Volunteers need to have a vision of what they are doing and why

We’ve also put together this video with some information about us and some of the people who are part of our congregation.

Since 2012 we’ve been live streaming and recording our worship services. These, along with other videos are available to view on our YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/dalzielstandrews
