Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28 NIVUK)  WEARY and BURDENED: My guess is that you are either presently, or have been in the past, one or both of these, maybe even both at the same time. For me, these two words touch on the struggle that life often is; physically, emotionally and spiritually. And, by that I don’t even mean the BIG things that try us. Sometimes it’s just a build-up of a whole heap of wee situations that bring you down and weigh heavy on your mind and heart. In prayer to God, I often picture myself carrying a rucksack of rocks, which are too much for me to bear in my own strength. Deliberately and consciously, I take some time to lay them down at the foot of Christ’s Cross, then turn and walk away. My shoulders are broad, but His are divine. He is far more able than I will ever be to carry such a load. If you are feeling hurt or hard-done-by today, if worn out and weak, it’s not good enough to "pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile." You need to take some time out from the demands of the day and lay your burdens before the LORD, trusting that He will deal with them, and grant you His peace that passes all human understanding.
