"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings." (1 Peter 5: 8-9 NIVUK)  A fallen angel, or a snake in the grass, an accuser of the brethren and the father of lies – satan is portrayed in many different ways throughout Scripture, not all of them unattractive! Here, he shows his true colours; a wounded and wild animal, he threatens to scare the life out of believers. But, the truth is that this "roaring lion" is mortally wounded. His days are numbered, and those growls from the pit of his stomach are merely groans from a creature whose end is near. The lion may be king of the jungle, but the One Who created that jungle is THE true KING. So, when the devil roars at you today, don’t run and make yourself easy prey for his scare tactics. Stand firm, putting fresh faith in God, Who is an experienced lion-tamer. The LORD will deliver you from the jaws of this predator, just as surely as he did with His servant of old, Daniel.
